Abstract This Law, consisting of 11 Chapters and 5 Annexes, provides for management procedures of native wild passerine exploitation. It provides for for all steps concerning the following wild birds exploitation activities: breeding, reproduction, marketing, maintenance, training, exhibition, transport, transfer, acquisition, custody, storage, use and holding of tournaments to be observed complying the policies on control and management under the powers of the Environmental State Institute - INEA, for amateur breeding of native passerines in the State of Rio de Janeiro. Management of native wild passerine species in the state of Rio de Janeiro, shall be under the responsibility of the State Environmental Institute - INEA, notwithstanding the supplementary competence of the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Resources Renewable natural - IBAMA for all the related steps above mentioned.
