Abstract This Law states that the Republic of Azerbaijan hereby approves the International Convention on oil pollution preparedness, response and cooperation dated 1990. The text consists of 19 articles and the text of the Convention is in its original Azerbaijani translation. This Convention aims at preventing oil pollution incidents to ensure maritime safety and marine pollution prevention. The contracting parties agree upon oil pollution emergency plans, oil pollution reporting procedures and related actions, national and regional systems for preparedness and response, international cooperation in pollution response, R&D, technical, bilateral and multilateral cooperation in preparedness and response, institutional arrangements.
