Abstract This Law regulates relations for the ensuring sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the population and radiation safety, safeguarding man’s right to favourable environment. The Act consists of six Sections divided into 32 articles: (1) general provisions; (2) the right of citizens to favourable environment and guarantees of its realization; (3) requirements for ensuring sanitary and epidemiological well-being, radiation safety of the population and the duties for the realization thereof; (4) the state sanitary supervision and control; (5) liability; and (6) international agreements. Basic principles for ensuring sanitary and epidemiological well-being of the population shall be: (a) prevention of negative environmental impact on human health; (b) environmental impact assessment (EIA); (c) liability and compensation for environmental damage and as its consequence negative impact on human health.
