Abstract

This Law, composed of 8 articles, regulates the policy of defence and protection of river and lake basins. It empowers the Government to establish the defence and protection policies with the aim to preserve and supervise the norms applicable to all lakes, estuaries, trenches and water courses falling under State jurisdiction. The main objective of such policy is the rational use of State’s natural resources. The law designates, as controlling instruments of the protection system, the Alignment River Project (PAR), the Alignment Lake Shore Project (PAO) and the Marginal Protection Share (FMP). The State’s Superintendence for Rivers and Lakes (SERLA) is indicated as the competent authority for the establishment of the related technical and administrative measures. The law establishes the penalties for legal and natural persons infringing this law and the related regulations.
