Abstract This Law, composed of 12 articles, rules for the preservation of the natural deposits of groundwater of the State of São Paulo. The Law requires a rational use and the introduction of pollution prevention measures. In particular, the Law recalls for the preservation of groundwater physical, biological and chemical equilibrium in relation to other natural watercourses. Moreover, it regulates the management of all waste residues deriving from industrial and agricultural activities potentially dangerous for groundwater pollution.
