Abstract This Law approves the Penal Code of Sao Tomé e Príncipe. The Code, consisting of 469 articles divided into two Books [seven Chapters (I) and four Chapters (II)], protects the legal assets essential to safeguarding the State and citizens as well as the development of institutions. It regulates the offences and limits of penalties, remissions, the transitional regime, criminal liability, and contravention. The Penal Code also deals with corruption, land, water or noise contamination or pollution, by means of poison or other substances harmful to health and human beings, creating a danger to life or serious injury to the health or physical integrity of other people.
