Abstract This Law regulates legal relations in the field of statistical activity, defines tasks, rights and duties of state statistics bodies, and also establishes the procedure for collecting, processing, use, distribution and protection of official statistical data and conducting official statistical accounting in Republic of Tajikistan. The scope of this Law shall be to meet the needs of the state and society for complete, reliable, scientifically substantiated and timely submitted statistical information on social, economic, demographic, environmental and other public processes in the Republic of Tajikistan. This Law shall apply to all statistical units and subjects of official statistical accounting that are operating on the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan. In order to ensure the quality of State statistics, the following principles shall be complied with: (a) relevance, objectivity, scientific validity, timeliness, reliability of the official statistics; (b) impartiality, confidentiality of the official statistics; (c) transparency, publicity and availability of the official statistics; and (d) coherence of the official statistics. This Law consists of IV Chapters divided into 21 Articles. Chapter I lays down general provisions. Chapter II lists state statistical bodies, establishes their functions, rights and duties.
