Abstract This Law, consisting of 14 Chapters, divided into 104 articles, establishes the State Policy on Solid Waste Integrated Management within the State of Sergipe. The objectives of this Policy are: to regulate management, reduce the quantity and the danger caused by solid waste produced within the State; to protect human health, improve the quality of life of populations, preserve the biodiversity and avoid undesired interferences in ecologically weak areas; generate social benefits and look after the economic sustainability determined by a efficient management of recyclable waste, through the promotion of the sustainable development; to offer opportunities and technical assistance for an immediate regularization of related activities in discordance with this legislation and for a correct collection, transport, and rational exploitation and final disposal of solid waste; to protect the environment, etc. Full text Portuguese Website www.al.se.gov.br
