Abstract

This Law, consisting of 39 articles divided into nine Chapters, provides for plant health protection within the State of Roraima. It establishes that the Secretary of State for Agriculture, Supply and Livestock (SEAPA) is responsible organ to plan, implement, coordinate, articulate with other sectors, evaluate and supervise plant health protection policies, through general and special programmes of monitoring for plant and plant products, agricultural inputs and other activities related to it in the State of Roraima. These measures aim at the promotion and protection of plant health, as well as the environment, in order to improve plant production and protect public health. The State Plant Protection will be developed through specific programmes aimed for any group of plant pests, in accordance with the legal guidelines and norms established by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA), and in accordance with the interests of the State. The general measures destined for State Plant Protection will comprise the registration of all related activities and agricultural properties.
