Abstract

This Law, composed of 9 articles, aimed at safeguarding public health, recognises, under condition of previous appraisal, the right to indemnity for the loss caused by the necessary sacrifice of infected animals or destruction of objects or rural buildings. The law stipulates that the indemnity is not granted for animal lethal illnesses and sets the compensation criteria possible for animal loss. With regards to the destruction of objects or rural buildings, the Law establishes the compensation of their value to be estimated by an evaluation commission composed by representatives of the Federal Government, the State Government and the relevant Rural Association. Finally, it sets the procedures and prescription dates for the right of appeal.
