This Regulation enters into force three months after the date of publication.
Abstract

This Law sets forth the principles on (i) pollution control, emergency precautionary measures for prevention and mitigation of pollution, (ii) compensation for damages resulting from an incident, (iii) compliance with international law, and (iv) authorities, duties and responsibilities of the real and legal persons subject to this Law. This Law aims at ensuring marine safety and preventing marine pollution. This Law covers authorities, duties and responsibilities of the real and legal persons of the ships of 500 gross tons or larger that might cause pollution with petroleum or other hazardous substances. This Law consists of five sections including 28 articles and sets forth provisions on safety of navigation, life, property and environment, compensation for damages, determination of damages, identification of pollution, intervention, transport and disposal of waste materials, identification and rehabilitation of areas affected by pollution, emergency response plan, admission of vessels in danger to appropriate and safe maritime areas, inspection of vessels and pollution caused by bunker oil or cargo.
