This Law enters into force 180 days after its publication.
Abstract

This Law, consisting of 4 Chapters, establishes the Food Safety requirements. It regulates supervision and management, preventing measures, control and treatment of risks and processing mechanisms related to food security, in consideration of guaranteeing human health. It applies to production and trade of foodstuff, as well as to the use of food additives and related products. This Law does not apply to drugs, including Chinese traditional drugs, and to Chinese medicinal ingredients to be sold exclusively in Chinese Pharmacies, according to article 13 of Decree-Law No. 53/94/M. It also establishes the competent authority to control the above mentioned sector.
