Abstract This Law, consisting of 31 articles, provides for fishing activity in the State of Roraima and establishing measures to protect aquatic animals. This Law applies to natural and legal persons who fish or are engaged in the activities of trade, industrialization, processing and transportation of fish products in the State of Roraima. The State Foundation for Environment, Science and Technology (FEMACT) is the public entity responsible for monitoring all its phases, which include capture, extraction, collection and transport. The following categories of fishing are permitted in the State of Roraima: 1. scientific fishing; 2. professional fishing and registered by the federal agency FEMACT; 3. sport artisanal fishing; 4. subsistence fishing, practiced exclusively by low income people, for personal and family consumption purposes.
