Abstract

The Law establishes the legal status, composition and terms of reference of the institutes. Functions of the institutes cover inter alia: (a) research on contagious animal diseases and on measures to be taken for their eradication; (b) diagnosis of animal diseases; (c) performance of tests and taking of samples; (d) dissemination of information to the sectors concerned; (e) vocational training of personnel. The institutes may be authorized by the Ministry of Health to the manufacturing of vaccines and other products necessary for combating or preventing the spreading of a disease, and to the preparation and distribution of drugs for the purpose of implementing animal health and sanitation plans. Final provisions concern the financial management of the institutes. The Decree is completed by one Table listing the names, location and territorial districts in which the institutes shall exercise their functions.
