This Law enters into force on the date of its official publication.
Abstract

This Law establishes protection regime of protected natural areas, conservation of habitats, wild flora and fauna. In particular, it refers to endemic, plant and animal species which are found exclusively in a region or location and which require particular attention due to the characteristics of their habitat and (or) the potential negative impact thereon. Special area of conservation shall be intended site of importance designated by a statutory, administrative and (or) contractual act in which shall be applicable conservation measures required for the maintenance or restoration of a favorable conservation status of natural habitats and (or) populations of species. Internal zoning of protected natural areas shall be intended definition and delimitation of areas inside protected natural areas according to the provisions of this Emergency Ordinance and management plans, which establish special measures for management and regulates human activities in accordance with the objectives for which the protected natural area has been designated, and regulates activities that may cause significant negative impact in the vicinity of protected natural areas and (or) ecological corridors. Documentation required for the establishment of protected natural area regime must include: (a) scientific substantiation of the site of universal natural heritage, wetland of international importance, geopark or biosphere reserve; (b) document certifying acknowledgement of the area as a protected natural area of international interest by authorized international bodies; and (c) approval of the Romanian Academy of Sciences.
