This Law enters into force on the day of its publication.
Abstract

This Law, consisting of 21 articles and 1 Annex, creates the Water Management Institution of the State of Rio Grande do Norte (IGARN), created by State Law No. 8.086 (repealed by this Law). This Law establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned Institution, entitled for technical and operational management of water resources within the State, to give technical and operational support to the Integrated System of Water Resources Management (SIGERH), created by State Law No. 6.908. In particular, IGARN is responsible for: participating in design State policies and programmes on water resources; coordinating and implementing activities of water resources management; developing research and related projects to water resources; carry out educational and capacity development programmes of personnel; issuing the right of use of water resources and licensing waterworks; etc.
