Abstract This Law aims to ensure the safety of products on the domestic market for which there are no special technical rules or regulations on safety. It requires that producers place on the market only safe commodities that comply with technical and sanitary rules and regulations, which shall apply to all products and include their packaging and labelling. Producers shall provide customers with reliable information on product use and expiration dates. Harmful commodities shall be confiscated as a last resort by decision of the producer or of the competent authority. The Act consists of five sections: (1) general provisions; (2) general safety requirements and criteria of compliance assessments; (3) obligations of producers and distributors; (4) specific duties and plenary powers; and (5) final and transitional provisions.
