Abstract This Law, consisting of 24 articles, regulates the exploitation of native forest and other form of native flora, as well as the use of forest natural resources within the State of Mato Grosso do Sul. It also establishes the obligation of forest exploitation breaks. This Law aims at regulating the following sectors: seasonal deciduous, semi-deciduous forests and ecotones, as a transition area where communities meet and integrate between different biomes; other form of native flora and other Phytoecological areas of savannas; natural or planted public forests; Sustainable Forest Management Plan (PMFS), etc. It also establishes Legal Reserve Areas within the State in order to protect and preserve the local biodiversity its native fauna and flora.
