Abstract This Law establishes that natural medicinal resources, recreational areas and health resorts shall be considered protected areas and regulates study, management and protection thereof. Natural medicinal resources shall include mineral water, thermal and medicinal waters, therapeutic muds and recreational areas. Area shall be recognized as recreational or health resort by decision of the Government in accordance with balneology, hydrogeological and other research and studies. Recreational areas and health resorts shall be classified as regional and local. Natural medicinal resources and recreational areas shall pertain to state ownership. Sanitary protection areas shall be established around medicinal resources and protected areas. This Law consists of eight Section divided into 18 articles: (1) general provisions; (2) plenary powers of the Government and local self-government; (3) particulars of natural medicinal resources management; (4) economic regulation; (5) sanitary protection; (6) dispute settlement; (7) liability; and (8) conclusive provisions.
