Abstract This Law, consisting of 30 articles divided into five Chapters, regulates Investments. It aims at establishing the basic and uniform legal framework for the process of carrying out, in the Republic of Mozambique, national and foreign investments eligible for the enjoyment of the guarantees and incentives provided for. Enterprises whose investments are or have been carried out without complying with the provisions of this Law and respective regulations will not benefit from the guarantees and incentives provided for. This Law applies to investments of economic nature that take place in Mozambican territory and intend to benefit from the guarantees and incentives established therein, as well as to investments carried out in industrial free zones and special economic zones, whose processes comply with the provisions of the regulatory decrees provided for in the terms of article 29, irrespective of the nationality and nature of the respective investors. It does not apply to investments made or to be made in the areas of prospecting, research and production of oil, gas and extractive industry of mineral resources and does not cover public investments financed by the State Budget, as well as investments of an exclusively social nature.
