Abstract This Law, consisting of 11 Chapters, regulates fisheries and aquaculture within the State of Mato Grosso do Sul. It specifies the requirements to be met in order to perform the above mentioned activities and any activity related to fish conservation, fish processing, fish transport, fish trade and fish scientific research. It also applies for customary techniques of fishing, sustainable exploitation and management if fisheries resources, which will be regulated by the competent State authority, the State Fisheries and Aquaculture Control (SECPESCA). SECPESCA will be competent of issuing fishing license, keeping registers and relevant cadasters, as well as control on fishing production and fisheries research.
