Entry into force notes
This Law enters into force 90 days after the day of its publication.
Abstract

This Law, consisting of 37 articles divided into eight Chapters, recognizes the Human Right to Adequate Food, by guaranteeing permanent and stable access to adequate, healthy, nutritious and safe food, always adapting to its food and cultural needs and preferences. It applies to all individuals under Cape Verdean jurisdiction, without any discrimination, and the State of Cape Verde prioritizes, within the scope of its Food and Nutrition Security policies, the groups identified as vulnerable, under the terms defined in the Article 3 (3) (h). It also applies to central and local government entities, as well as to the private sector and civil society, whose activities focus on the Food and Nutrition Security sector, in particular on the issues of access, availability, use and stability of food and guarantee the realization of the right of individuals, to an adequate diet, under the terms defined in this Law.
