Abstract

With the provisions of present law the Greek legislation is harmonized with the Directive of 2004/8/EK of the European Parliament and Council on the promotion of cogeneration based on a useful heat demand in the internal energy market and for the amendment of Directive of 92/42/EEK. This law also aims at supplementing the Greek legal framework for the promotion of co-production of two or more useful forms of energy. The provisions of this law shall apply in the co-production of two or more useful forms of energy, as defined in article 3 (simultaneous generation in one process of thermal energy and electrical or mechanical energy), and in the technologies related thereto that are reported in article 4. The law also amends a series of provisions related to energy production from various sources, including renewable energy sources. Amongst them, it amends Presidential Order 375/1987 establishing the Centre for Renewable Energy Sources and Saving (CRES), setting forth updated organizational structures and competencies of the Centre.
