Abstract This Law aims at preventing and controlling pests in the State of Acre. The Animal and Plant Sanitary Protection Fund of the State of Acre (FUNDESAVE), which will be managed by IDAF/AC, is hereby created. In particular, this Law will provide for the prevention and control of pests, involving any requirement that contributes to plant health. The Executive Branch will declare a phytosanitary emergency situation, aiming at the prevention and control of pests of economic importance to Acre, in the following situations: uncontrollable pest infestation in the territory, causing unacceptable economic damage; introduction in the territory of a pest causing unacceptable economic damage; imminent risk of introducing a pest absent in the territory but present in the national territory, potentially causing unacceptable economic damage; and widespread financial inability of producers to control the pest.
