Abstract This Law regulates the sale of firearms and ammunition and has as its purpose the protection of human life and the environment. Hunting firearms shall be classified as: (a) hunting guns with rifle barrel; (b) smoothbore hunting guns; and (c) combined hunting guns with interchangeable rifle and smoothbore barrels. The sale of automatic firearms for civilian use shall be prohibited on national territory. The use of bows and crossbows shall be authorized exclusively to immobilize wild animals. Firearms for civilian use shall be recorded in the official register of firearms authorized for civilian use. Such firearms and ammunition manufactured in or imported into the country shall be subject to mandatory certification. The right to purchase firearms for civilian use shall be granted to hunting and sporting organizations.
