Abstract This Law, consisting of 20 articles, provides for the prevention, control and eradication of the so-called Asian Rust of soybean (Phakopsora pachyrhizi), for the cultivation of soybeans throughout the State of Mato Grosso do Sul, the following measures of cultural control and phytosanitary control are established: I - plant sanitary resting period, time of each calendar of the year, where the cultivation of soybeans is prohibited and the absence of live soybean plants at any stage of development is mandatory; II - the sowing and cultivation of soybeans in succession to the soybean crop in the same area and in the same agricultural year shall not be allowed; III - soybean sowing will only be allowed within the period established in specific resolution. The sowing periods and the sanitary resting period for the soybean crop will be determined in a specific resolution of the Secretariat of State for Environment, Economic Development, Production and Family Agriculture (SEMAGRO).
