Abstract This Law, consisting of 6 articles and 1 Annex, establishes environmental protection measures for the Pantanal area within the State of Mato Grosso do Sul. It prohibits the settlement or use of alcohol distilleries or sugar industries within the area of Pantanal, corresponding to the hydrographical basin of the Paraguai River as specified in Annex I. Authorizations can be issued only if carrying out such activities do not contribute to the pollution of the Pantanal area.
