Abstract The Law consists of 4 Sections composed of 19 articles dealing with the following matters: 1) general provisions (sect. 1, arts. 1-5); 2) compulsory certification (sect. 2, arts. 6-15); 3) voluntary certification (sect. 3, arts. 16-18); 4) liability (sect. 4, art. 19). The present Law establishes legal and economic basis for the certification of produce and service, and also the rights and the duties of the participant of certification. Certification shall be carried out for the purpose of the protection of consumers’ rights as regards safety of the produce for human health and environmental protection. Certification shall be compulsory and voluntary (art. 1). The standardization authority (TAJIKSTANDARD) shall certify the produce and shall issue certificates and licences for the utilization of the compliance certificate (art. 10). Voluntary certification shall be applicable to the produce that is not subject to compulsory certification. Voluntary certification shall be carried out by initiative of the producer by the certification authority on conditions of the contract concluded by the producer and the certification authority (art. 16).
