Abstract The purpose of the legislation on Red Book is to regulate public relations in the sphere of protection, management and conservation of rare and endangered animal and plant species recorded in the Red Book of Ukraine for the purpose of prevention of the extinction of the afore-mentioned species and ensuring conservation of their genetic resources. Section I (arts. 1-7) lays down general provisions. Section II (arts. 8 and 9) determines state institutions authorized to carry out regulation and control in the sphere of protection, management and conservation of rare and endangered animal and plant species recorded in the Red Book of Ukraine. Section III (arts. 10-11) regards protection and conservation of species recorded in the Red Book of Ukraine. Section IV (arts. 12-17) establishes the modalities of keeping the Red Book of Ukraine. Section V (arts. 18-19) establishes terms of conservation of species recorded in the Red Book of Ukraine. Section VI (arts. 20) establishes liability for the infringement of the legislation in the sphere of protection, management and conservation of rare and endangered animal and plant species recorded in the Red Book of Ukraine.
