Abstract This Law determines the main directions of state policy in the sphere of protection infant health through support, protection and propaganda of breastfeeding, regulates the issues of provision with full nutritional value and safe food and trade of infant food. Basic principles of state policy in the sphere of protection and propaganda of breastfeeding and provision with infant food shall be: (a) support and protection of breastfeeding; (b) ensuring high quality and safety of foodstuffs and components thereof destined for infant food either imported or of national origin; (c) state guarantees of qualitative and safe infant food; and (c) state quality and safety control of infant food. The Act consists of 5 Sections divided into 16 articles: (1) general provisions; (2) information and propaganda; (3) requirements for packaging and labelling of infant food; (4) rights of public health bodies and medical staff related to breastfeeding and infant food; and (5) conclusive provisions.
