Entry into force notes
The Law enters into force ten days after the date of its official publication.
Abstract

This Law regulates the manufacture, processing, storage and trade of cotton in order to promote the development of the cotton industry. Such regulation shall consist of: (a) state support; (b) licensing the primary processing of cotton; (c) technical regulation; (d) testing of cotton fibre quality; (e) monitoring the cotton market; (f) monitoring cotton crop rotation; and (g) legislative regulation of the cotton industry. The Act consists of nine sections: (1) general provisions; (2) state regulation of the cotton industry; (3) cotton quality control; (4) producers of cotton; (5) cotton payment vouchers; (6) state supervision of cotton processing organizations; (7) provisional management of the cotton processing industry; (8) credit settlement; and (9) final provisions. Trade of cotton fibre that is not accompanied by a cotton quality certificate shall be prohibited. Producers of cotton fibre shall have the right to receive state subsidies and incentives.
