Abstract The main tasks of seed growing are: 1) creation of the proper basis for seed growing of agricultural plant variety; 2) conservation of biological and economically valuable characteristics of plant variety and hybrids of seeds in the process of renewal; 3) conservation and efficient use of precious national and international genetic resources; 4) production of new high-yielding varieties; 5) state inspection of seed quality (art. 2). The right of production and use of seeds and hybrids protected by patent shall be granted to patent owners and legal and natural persons holders of licence (art. 4). Genetic (variety) qualities of seeds shall be determined in accordance with the outcome of field and laboratory testing (art. 6). Inoculums shall be subject to compulsory certification in conformity with the modalities set by law (art. 7). The legislation can envisage the arrangements for stimulation of seed production (art. 13). The Law consists of 19 Articles.
