Entry into force notes
This Law enters into force six months after its official publication except for item f) of the paragraphs (1) and (6) of the Article 19 that enter into force on 1 January 2008.
Abstract

This Law establishes legal grounds for the organization of agricultural and agrofood markets by the manufacturers and traders of agricultural commodities and food trading the aforesaid produce at the national level. Agricultural and agrofood markets shall have as their purpose: (a) ensuring quality and safety of agricultural commodities and food; and (b) raising export of agricultural commodities and food. The Act consists of four Sections divided into 23 articles: (1) general provisions; (2) institutional bodies regulating agricultural and agrofood markets; (3) regulation mechanism; and (4) conclusive and transitional provisions. The following regulating mechanisms shall be applicable to agricultural and agrofood markets: (a) contracts between producers of agricultural commodities and traders; (b) export subsidies for agricultural commodities and foodstuffs; (c) other arrangements by the authorized institutions.
