Abstract This Law creates the Agro-ecological and Organic Production Centre in the Zona da Mata region with the objective of promoting and encouraging the development of agroecology and organic production in the region. The governmental actions related to the above mentioned Centre will be carried out within the scope of the State Policy on Agroecology and Organic Production (Peapo), established by Law No. 21.146 of 14 January 2014. The related governmental actions observe the following principles: sustainable development; participation and social participation; environmental preservation with social inclusion; security and food sovereignty; agricultural, biological, territorial, natural heritage and cultural diversity. The actions related to the implementation of this Centre will be carried out by family farmers and public and private entities involved in the production and marketing of agroecological and organic products.
