Abstract

This Resolution consisting of 18 articles establishes an insurance fund for livestock (ruminants). The Fund shall be considered a private institution of public benefit, subject to the supervision and control of the competent administrative authority and it will ensure the animals owned by registered cooperative societies for breeding livestock. Article 3 lists the requirements that animals must meet to qualify for insurance (i) the pass of the reaction period for the prescribed immunizations against epidemics; (ii) the continuous possession of the animals by the association and the breeders throughout the insurance period. The cases in which compensation for livestock insurance is due to the association and breeders are provided in article 4, while article 5 regards the cases in which this right is completely forfeited. The fund compensates associations and breeders for (i) the value of sold meat or waste of livestock (the Fund sets general rules for estimating the price); (ii) the value of the compensation that the association and breeders may receive for the livestock from the Government or other bodies (art.6). The Fund may, at any time, carry out a medical examination of the insured livestock and its barns (art.7). The Fund is managed by a Board of Directors, and the competent Minister shall issue a regulation regarding its, work, including the distribution of jobs among its members and the determination of its committees, provided that among them there are committees for insurance, for assessing the values of livestock, for inspection, and appeal.
