Abstract The present Law establishes legal, economic and social basis of the activity of consumer cooperation. The Law is aimed at revival and strengthening of democratic principles of consumer cooperation, protection of interests of its members and rural population as consumers and regulation of the relations with state institutions. The purpose of consumer cooperation is voluntary association of the citizens for carrying out economic activity that can be of procurement, production and of other types (art. 1). The Law consists of 8 Sections composed of 18 articles. Section 1 (arts. 1-4) lays down general provisions. Section 2 (arts. 5-7) regards consumer association as primary link of consumer cooperation. Section 3 (art. 8) regards unions of consumer associations. Section 4 (arts. 9-10) regards property of consumer cooperation. Section 5 (arts. 11-15) regards economic and social activity of consumer associations and their unions. Section 6 (art. 16) regards international ties and international activity.
