Abstract This Law regulates relations originating from legal protection and use of trademarks, service marks and names of the places of origin of commodities. Article 1 establishes that names of the places of origin of commodities shall be considered denomination of geographic area related to particular qualities of commodities. Article 2 establishes that regulation in the sphere of protection of intellectual property shall be carried out by Patent authority subordinated to the Ministry of Economy and Development. Article 31 specifies that names of the places of origin of commodities shall contain modern or historic name of the country, populated area and/or other geographic object or derivate therefrom used in relation to particular qualities or properties of commodities or distinction of which are determined by natural conditions or human factors typical for this geographic object. Article 32 establishes legal protection of names of the places of origin of commodities after registration thereof.
