Abstract This Law regulates legal, economic and organizational issues with a view of every possible development, conservation and increase of fish stocks, increase of fish production and meeting the demand of the population for fish products. It shall be applicable to aquaculture and in particular to pond fishfarming. The Act consists of 7 Sections divided into 20 articles: (1) general provisions; (2) fishery management; (3) organization of fisheries and fishfarming; (4) restrictions on the use of fish stocks; (5) fishfarming development fund; (6) protection of fish stocks and natural habitats thereof; and (7) conclusive provisions. Natural and legal persons carrying out fishfarming shall carry out the following tasks: (a) stock enhancement and protection of fish stocks; (b) conservation of waterbodies productivity; (c) protection of natural habitats, spawning grounds and migration routes of fishes; (d) protection of endangered fish species; and (e) conservation of aquatic ecosystems.
