Abstract This Law, consisting of 24 articles divided into eight Chapters, provides, defines and regulates fish farming activity within the State of Goiás. Articles 3 and 4 establish the requirements for environmental licensing of fish farming which will be processed by the State Secretariat by indicating the classification of the related activity. Fishing licence will be issued after presenting a technical specifications. Authorization for the capture of breeding stock and matrices in the wild shall be requested to the State Secretariat for the Environment, Water Resources, Infrastructure, and Metropolitan Affairs (SECIMA), by fish farmers duly authorized for this purpose. For the construction of water reservoirs, dams and tanks used for the implementation of fish farming activities in water courses with a maximum average flow greater than 3m3 per second, the interested party must request the Secretary of State for SECIMA a special license.
