Abstract This Law provides for the removal of solid waste generated on ships and boats docked in the port areas of Paraná. It establishes that ships and commercial vessels that dock in the port areas of the coasts of Paraná must remove their solid waste (garbage) in order to prevent the contamination generated by international waste and to preserve the public health and environment. The legally responsible for the vessel must take all measures for comply with this Law. Offences and penalties for illegal activities are provided for by Federal Law No. 9.605 of 12 February 1998 and Federal Decree No. 6.514 of 22 July 2008.
