Abstract This Law creates the State Policy promoting Organic Products Fairs. The State Policy has the following objectives: promote food and nutritional security and the right to adequate and healthy food; encourage the consumption of organic products; encourage entrepreneurship and cooperativism, with a view to growing the production of organic products; contribute to cooperativism and the solidarity economy in the State of Santa Catarina; and make the population aware of the benefits of healthy eating. The instruments of the State Policy are: planning actions aimed at the sector; organizing and structuring production, distribution, marketing and consumption chains for these products; simplifying administrative processes, notably with regard to licenses granted to marketers and authorizations for the purpose of holding fairs; simplifying credit for the production of these products; wide dissemination of the fairs.
