Abstract This Law, consisting of 7 articles, regulates the fisheries policy in the State of Roraima. This fishing policy with its guidelines, aims at full development in the sector. In the elaboration of the fisheries policy, the State will guarantee the effective participation of small fish farmers and artisanal or professional fishermen, through their trade union representatives, cooperatives and similar organizations. It is incumbent upon the State to create mechanisms for the protection and preservation of the areas occupied by fishing communities. It is prohibited the predatory fishing in any of its forms, such as: 1. practices that cause risks to the hydrographic basins of the State territory; 2. use of techniques and equipment that may damage the capacity to renew the fishing resource; 3. in places and times prohibited by the competent bodies.
