Abstract This Law, consisting of 29 articles divided into four Chapters and one Annex, establishes the State Water Resources Plan (PERH). It lays down guidelines for management of water resources, recovery and protection of water resources quality, promotion and encouragement of the rational use of water, indicating a set of goals to be achieved through the implementation of continuing programmes, which should include forecasting and indicators to follow up the effectiveness of its implementation. The State Water Resources Council (CRH) must approve the compatibility of the PERH investment programme with the State Multi-year Plan (PPA) within 180 days from its publication.
