Abstract This Law creates the Irrigation Project of the Secretariat of Agrarian Development (SDA). Its objective is to strengthen the family farming business by facilitating farmers' access to efficient irrigation systems. The Project will be widely disseminated through: seminars developed by EMATERCE; printed materials to family farmers, explaining the Project and procedures to be followed by farmers who wish to be beneficiaries; selection criteria for farmers' participation, observing the guidelines of Federal Law 11.326, of 24 July 2006. The registration of the farmers will be done by SDA, filled by interested people to participate in the irrigation system. The registration will be submitted for evaluation and eventual approval by SDA, for the technical installation of the irrigation systems. The State Government will stimulate the development of irrigation systems powered by photovoltaic energy. The Irrigation Project guidelines aims to the efficiently and sustainably use water resources, prioritizing the techniques of localized irrigation and reducing irrigation by flood.
