Abstract The Law consists of 7 Sections and 43 articles dealing with the following matters: general provisions (sect. 1, arts. 1-3); state regulation in the sphere of hunting economy and hunting (sect. 2, arts. 4-11); hunting (sect. 3, arts. 12-20); management of hunting economy and hunting grounds (sect. 4, arts. 21-36); inspection of hunting economy and hunting (sect. 5, arts. 37- 41); liability (sect. 6, arts. 42-43); final provisions (sect. 7). The Law establishes legal, economic and organizational basis for the activity of legal and natural persons in the sphere of hunting economy and hunting, ensuring to everybody equal hunting rights, and the organization of protection, management and reproduction of the animal kingdom. Hunting economy is public sector of economy covering the following fields of activity: 1) protection, management and reproduction of hunting species; 2) rendering of services to hunters as regards realization of hunting, development of sport hunting and hunting dog-breeding (art. 1). Wild animals in state of natural freedom or kept in conditions of semi-freedom shall be classified as natural resources of national importance (art. 2). The authorized hunting institution shall have the following plenary powers: 1) the state regulation and supervision in the sphere of hunting economy and hunting; 2) protection, management and reproduction of hunting animals, conservation and improvement of hunting grounds; 3) issue of hunting authorization; 4) keeping of the state register of game; 5) monitoring of wild animals present on the national territory (art. 6). Hunting right shall be granted to the Ukrainian nationals who have reached 18 years of age and have been issued hunting authorization. Only the persons in possession of the firearms authorization issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs shall be authorized to hunt with the use of hunting rifle (art. 12). The foreigners in possession of the valid foreign hunting authorization shall be authorized to carry out hunting in conformity with contracts concluded by the foreigners or their legal representatives and the managers of the hunting grounds (art. 13). Hunting authorization includes the following documentation: 1) hunting certificate; 2) annual hunting registration card containing data on quantity of bagged game, infringement of hunting regulations and attesting payment of state duty; 3) hunting permit; 4) firearms authorization (art. 14). The Act contains classification of hunting methods (art. 15), establishes hunting seasons (art. 19), establishes the modalities of the allocation of hunting grounds (art. 22), deals with hunting inspection (art. 29) and establishes liability for the infringement of the hunting legislation (art. 42).
