This Law enters into force on the day of its publication.
Abstract

This Law, consisting of six Chapters, provides for social protection measures to prevent the contagion and dissemination of Covid-19 in indigenous territories; creates the Emergency Plan to Fight Covid-19 in indigenous territories; and establishes measures to support quilombola communities, artisanal fisherfolks and other traditional peoples and communities to face Covid-19. In particular, it establishes sanitary and epidemiological surveillance measures to prevent the contagion and spread of Covid-19 in indigenous territories, provides for food security actions, provides for actions related to isolated indigenous peoples during the Covid-19 period, stipulates measures to support quilombola communities, artisanal fisherfolks and other traditional peoples and communities, in order to ensure the provision of additional resources in emergency situations. The provisions of this Law cover: isolated and recently contacted indigenous people; indigenous villages; indigenous people living outside indigenous lands, in urban or rural areas; indigenous peoples and groups that are in the country in a situation of migration or temporary transnational mobility; quilombolas; quilombolas who, due to studies, academic activities or the treatment of their health, are residing outside quilombola communities; artisanal fisherfolks; other traditional peoples and communities. The Law is divided as follows: Preliminary provisions (Chap. I); Emergency Plan to Fight Covid-19 in indigenous territories (Chap. II); Food and Nutritional Security (Chap. III); Isolated and recently contacted indigenous people (Chap. IV); Assistance to quilombola Communities, Artisanal Fisherfolks and to other traditional peoples and communities to face Covid-19 (Chap. V); Final provisions (Chap. VI).
