Abstract This Law, consisting of 8 articles, creates the Programme for incentives to cultivation, extraction, consumption, trade and processing of Pequi fruit and other native fruits of Cerrado (PRÓ-PEQUI). This Programmes aims at integrating local populations who traditionally live on the rational exploitation of this biome within the Brazilian "Cerrado" habitat and in a sustainable way through the creation of mechanisms able to guarantee the exploitation of this fruit by traditional communities, organized in cooperatives or other form of associations.
