Abstract This Law provides for the use of organic foodstuff in school feeding at the State public schools. It aims at promoting the following aspects: environmental preservation; agrobiodiversity; biological cycles; quality of human life, non-use of the following components: high solubility fertilizers, agrochemicals, antibiotics, hormones, artificial additives, genetically modified organisms and ionizing radiation. Preference will be given to the purchase organic products produced in the same region where the schools are located and will be served according to agricultural vocations and regional food habits. The organic products to be included in the school feeding should receive the seal of the certification institution, as to the origin of the product, nature and quality, in addition to being subject to the supervision of government agencies.
