This Law enters into force on the day of its publication.
Abstract

This Law, consisting of 6 Chapters and 1 Annex, creates the Land and Agrarian Reform Institution of the State of Pernambuco (ITERPE). It establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of this State authority under the Agriculture and Agrarian Reform Secretariat, which is entitled to carry out the agricultural policy, to regulate and reorganize the rural lands within the State of Pernambuco; to manage land use and ownership conflicts; to allow settlement to no-land farmers; to manage and promote means for the socio-economic and environmental development of settled households; to represent the State against any land administrative and legal discrimination; to recognize legal land ownership and cleared lands; to promote actions towards the democratization of access and adjudication of lands, according to the baselines of the sustainable development; to develop and establish criteria for public and private land use, etc.
