Abstract

This Law, provides for labelling of food containing Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs). It establishes that of all packaging used for genetically modified food, identified by its formula or invoice, marketed within the borders of the State of Acre, must have a printed label, in order to facilitate easy reading at the time of purchase, with the following sentence: GENETICALLY FOOD MODIFIED. In genetically modified food, identified as such by the merchant, sold in bulk, the phrase mentioned above must be included in the place where the sale is exposed. If in its composition, in any proportion, the packaged product contains genetically modified food, this shall be included in a printed label with an easy identification, with the following sentence: CONTAINS, IN THE COMPOSITION, GENETICALLY MODIFIED FOOD.
